About - What is TaskAir?

Task Air is a method of delivering conditioned air at the workstation. It ducts a percentage of the buildings conditioned air (generally 35%) down a blade into the workstation screen and delivers it through a diffuser (similar to that in a car) at chest height to the workstation. The balance (65%) of the conditioned air continues to be delivered through the conventional ceiling diffuser.

In traditional (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) HVAC systems, the only way to alter the ambient air temperature of the office is to adjust the thermostat, resulting in “thermostat wars”. Traditional HVAC systems do not provide a satisfactory “one stop shop” solution to the varying degrees of individual employee thermal comfort.

What does Task Air Achieve?

Task Air’s simple change of delivery point of the conditioned air has a significant impact on an open plan office:

1. It allows the individual to have control over the temperature, direction and volume of air or they can turn it off all together.
2. It delivers the best cleanest air, directly into the breathing zone of the user before it drifts around the office machines and other occupants, reducing illness in employees.
3. It gives the Mechanical Engineer a new tool with which they can manage the difficult task of delivering the best air quality in the most energy efficient manner. Because the air is delivered so directly, the Mechanical Engineer can now consider the following:
1. More fresh air (rather than recycled)
2. Less conditioned air, overall
3. Chilling the air less (up to 4 degrees) which delivers significant energy savings
4. Greater air change effectiveness
5. Ability to deliver sufficient air to limited areas for weekend or after hours work
6. Greater use of natural ventilation in general office areas, again resulting in energy savings
